Choosing a Name

Page history last edited by VelmaRivera 14 years, 3 months ago

What do we call this thing? It's not clear to me if we've agreed on a name ... Here are possible ingredients to throw in the blender:

  • BCLA
  • ALPS
  • LOR (Learning Object Repository)
  • L (for Librarians)
  • but only for their instructional materials/resources
  • in SOLR
  • paper writing

How about ... the ALPS IRL (Instructional Resources for Librarians)?

A couple of suggestions for the name of our repository:

  • Library Instruction Swapping Center (American spelling of Center intentional)
  • Library Instruction Swap Center
  • Library Instruction Backpack (if we establish an ALPS mountains tie-in!)

Acronym possibilities for these aren't bad (LISC, LIB).

These suggestions are predicated on the assumption that ALPS and BCLA logos will be present, but that neither ALPS nor BCLA has to figure into the name of the repository.

Feel free to poke away at these suggestions or use them as a jumping off point.

And, by the way, I really like Gordon's "subtitle" sentence explaining what the repository really is.
