Classification Hierarchy

Page history last edited by PBworks 17 years, 5 months ago

Pasting here the section from the 10/18 minutes on this topic ...

"At this time, the group decided to adopt a more relaxed classification structure focusing on encouraging participation by librarians at academic institutions in BC.

We will use the keyword field and make suggestions for the types of content to include i.e. database, platform as well as the required fields for institution and date. We will start posting materials and work with Scott to develop a structure.

"We are interested in learning more about a joint project between Sheryl Adam and Joseph Tennis on classification of learning objects."

Key points:

  • Rely on the free keyword field for now.
  • Give librarians some guidance about useful keywords to use.
  • Further investigation of the Adam/Tennis project: Is it a classification structure for librarian learning objects?; Is it possible to customize the upload process of our repository to incorporate this hierarchy?
