1. SOLR
Currently, guests (i.e. persons who have not set up an account with SOLR) only see the learning objects they have access to; learning objects that have the Creative Commons Licence and are open to the world CCLicence - Attribution Share Alike. At this time, guests do not see learning objects that have a BC Commons licence for the BC Public Post-Secondary Systems. BC Commons Licence SOLR is releasing version 3 their software in the near future. With version 3, people who have guest access will be able to see the record for learning objects, however, they will only have access to the learning objects which have an open Creative Commons license.
Discussion: we need to be clear with our contributors about the implications of Creative Commons license choices. The group discussed the current Creative Commons license options that are available to contributors.
We would like the attribution to have a more open option, which specifies the tutorials are for non-commercial use. Also, Heather Morrison identified the “share alike” option as one we might want to specify as well.

2. Instruction
• We need instructions to indicate how to add the attribution information – “This work is licensed under the creative commons license…”
• Discussion of standardizing “resource types”. Now that we have items up we can work from that. This could turn into an FAQs or guidelines for submitting learning objects.
3. Promotion
• Heather suggested collaborating on promotion with ANTS, CORIL, etc.
4. Portal
• For the “About this Project” section, take the sentence from the title and use for the mission statement: “A repository of learning objects to support academic librarians in their instructional role.”
5. Background Info
Dspace is one type of software used for repositories. ePrints is another. SOLR is locally developed repository software.
Questions:
1. Will keywords show in the learning object record?
2. Can we point back to our portal from SOLR?

Summary of Actions:
Action: Katherine to type draft minutes to the wiki.
Action: Katherine to draft letter to SOLR requesting the more open Creative Commons licenses be offered as options to our contributors. Katherine to discuss letter draft with Scott Leslie, then forward to group for comment.
Action: Everyone will think about names for the portal at http://eln.bc.ca/irl/ and post them to the wiki.
Action: Gordon has offered to contact ANTS & CORIL about our initiative and cross-searching their collections. The group asks Gordon to go ahead and contact CORIL and for Heather to contact ANTS. Heather to touch base with Gordon to coordinate.
Action: Liza to review the documentation.
Action: Patti to talk to an artist friend about 1) ALPS logo 2) our project (still needs a name).
Action: Liza and Judy to compile a list of questions and clarify with Scott. This might form the basis for a FAQ
Action: Judy to create a boilerplate tagging for different format types.
